I Want to Seek Out the Sasquatch

Research Obsession

While most never want to see the Sasquatch again, there are a number of people that become obsessed with the Sasquatch. For some, the encounter was so “life changing” that they desire to have another encounter. Others want to find the Sasquatch to validate the encounter, to prove to themselves the Sasquatch is real. Every moment is spent researching the internet or going into the woods attempting to have another encounter.

Regardless of the motivation, I strongly discourage people from going out and seeking the Sasquatch, trying to have another encounter, or doing obsessive, unhealthy research on the subject. This is going to appear as harsh, but I think it a necessary warning. Nothing can be gained by treating the Sasquatch as a tribe of “unknown hominins” and attempting to study them! The Sasquatch lives in family groups, they have offspring, and from time to time they interbreed with humans. However, there is no way to approach them, to live among them, to interact with them or to clearly photo or video document them.

In my opinion, most of the Sasquatch are untrustworthy. I question their motives concerning every behavior toward and interaction with humans. I consider seeking them out and attempting to interact with them a dangerous undertaking.

If one sees a Sasquatch, it is because they wanted you to view them. I have rarely observed them out in the open. An encounter with a Sasquatch is rarely by chance. If one enters a Sasquatch clan’s territory, look outs immediately identify the intruder and alert the other clan members of location, number, gender, and direction of travel of the individuals. They use a variety of pre-agreed upon signals to communicate this to one another. The Sasquatch has an arsenal of methods to include bird calls, owl calls, animal calls, woops and wood knocks to name a few. There is no way to sneak up on or catch a Sasquatch by surprise. It is rare that one stumbles upon one that is surprised by your presence. It does happen, and there are reports that tell of the shocked look on the Sasquatch’s face when it happens. Your encounter may be one of these, but it is the exception and not the rule.

I have taken hundreds of hours of video over the last ten years. I have obtained approximately five minutes of “good” footage. I give a warning to those who desire to research them, that want to seek them out, that desire to have another encounter, or who thinks the Sasquatch has any knowledge or wisdom to impart. They are not what you think they are, though there are “good ones” that mean humans no harm, it is my opinion that most are deceiving you at best and luring you into a bad situation at worst. The question is what are they luring you into?

Something to consider. While one member of the clan can be friendly and want to interact with you, the other members of its clan may not agree. They could be very displeased at your presence and the fact a member of the clan is interacting with you. You could suffer dangerous consequences due to a “good” Sasquatches action.

One final warning, if you actively seek out the Sasquatch you will give them permission to do the same and seek you out. If one “researches” the Sasquatch phenomenon long enough they will begin to visit your home. These visitations may be unwanted and uncontrollable. The Sasquatch visitations can also be accompanied by other unwanted “paranormal” activities.

When I began to question the Sasquatch’s origin, motives, and actions, I was inspired to write a post on my blog. I think, though dated, it is extremely relevant and shows how the Sasquatch Awareness Originated back in my research days. I realized then that people needed help dealing with Sasquatch encounters.

From my blog “The Bigfoot Field Journal,” published November 19, 2013:

The "Loss of Innocence" - Advice to Aspiring Bigfoot Researchers

Those days are no more; the wilderness has lost its wonder. It is no longer a place of peace and serenity. It all changed for me on a sunny June day in 2009 while fishing. I was casting a point of land that was part of a public recreation area. I made some silly sounding “whooping.” I was just messing around imitating what I had watched in a YouTube video. Then the most amazing thing happens, something came tearing down through the woods. It was breaking limbs and crashing around in the thick underbrush. My jaw dropped and I was in shock as I stared at the shoreline. It stayed back in the shadows and I could only catch glimpses of sunlight on it from time to time. It acted like it was looking for something. It would go up the bank to the right and then the left. While all this was going on I was fumbling with the trolling motor trying to put some distance between it and me. After a couple minutes, I heard a very clear “humph” three or four times. Then I heard it walk back into the woods slowly until it was out of range. It took me several minutes to compose myself as I sat down in the bottom of my fishing boat.

This event would change everything. I had to find out what had made this noise. Even though I had a sighting when I was a child, this event was the catalyst; this event started me on this journey, this “quest for the truth.”

Over the past three years, I have seen and experienced things that are unbelievable. The average person has no idea what is going on in the wilderness. I can no longer go into the woods in a state of “ignorant bliss” and just enjoy it. I know what is out there, I know what is watching and lurking in the shadows.

I do still enjoy being out, but it is different now. It is hard to explain to those who have never experienced it, but the Bigfoot “know that you know” and this changes everything. I have a difficult time deer hunting because of interference from the Bigfoot. I go on family outings in the National Park with relatives that have no clue about Bigfoot or that I research and we will hear “strange sounds” or encounter “odd smells.”

I cannot explain this, but some people are what I called “marked” by the Bigfoot. No matter where you go, if there are Bigfoot in the area, they will find you and make themselves known to you. On average, it takes a couple days in an area for the “locals” to find you. Then all the “odd” stuff begins to happen.

My “loss of innocence” is compounded when you throw in the other cryptids that have shown up. I had only heard rumours about the “Dogman” until I captured it on video and then later made direct eye contact with one. I was not looking for them and definitely did not want to see one.  It is a shock to the system when you begin to realize what you have been taught all your life is wrong and that your “reality” is not the truth. You have heard the old saying, “be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.” Well, I found out how true this statement is. To be honest, I am still adjusting to this “new reality.” Gone are the days when the woods were a place of solitude, peace, and wonder. It is now a place where the “Monsters” live and they do not respect your “reality.”

I get several requests from people all the time “where can I go to see a Bigfoot,” “what can I do to have an encounter,” and “I want to know the truth about them.” My question would be, are you sure that is what you really want? The “truth” is a very sharp, double-edged sword and is no respecter of persons or your belief system.

I am bursting many bubbles lately when I talk to people. My advice now comes with stern warnings about being cautious, going armed, never going into the woods alone, do not take your children with you, if you’re a woman be extra careful. I can hear the disbelief in the voices of those hearing this for the first time. Those who think like I once did; the “benevolent keeper of the forest” is not always so benevolent and he is not the only cryptid out there.

This is my advice, or better my warning, to those who want to “research Bigfoot” or “find the truth,” find another hobby, this is not what you think it is. If you still insist then be ready for a shock to your belief system, be ready to throw out everything you think you know. When you think, it can’t get any “weirder” it will and there are very few people who you can tell or talk about this with. You will be called a crackpot, crazy, insane, out of touch with reality, idiot, and these are just the ones I can repeat. You will experience things you cannot record on film or produce “evidence” of, you will be frustrated constantly by camera malfunctions, blobsquatches, and noises you plainly heard but your equipment did not pick up.

There are also the unintended consequences of research, home visitations. Yes, in many cases they will follow you home, do not ask how or why I just know they do. Then your friends and family will really think you are a lunatic.

Finally, I have one more warning to give you, with knowing the truth comes responsibility.   What do you tell the woman that calls you who is all excited about researching Bigfoot and loves to go out into the woods all by herself? When you see that a child has gone missing in a wilderness area you will wonder. When phone calls come from scared people who have a Bigfoot habitation around their home what do you tell them? When you talk to a person that has just had an encounter and they called you because you’re the “local researcher” what do you tell them? What are you going to say to calm their nerves? How are you going to reassure them that it is ok, that they are not crazy, and what they saw is real?

Some who research seek anonymity to avoid the above, but it will be difficult if you choose to go this route, you will be faced with choices to speak out or be silent and there are consequences to both decisions. (Note: I chose to speak out, creating the resource for those who have had encounters “The Sasquatch Awareness Project” web page and authored this book.)

In closing, my final word to you is take up golf or fishing it is safer and less stressful, but if you insist on pursuing.

  1. Fantastic information, when I was a kid growing up in the northeast, I remember walking home at night, alone, through the woods and feeling uneasy, like I was being watched. I assumed than it was because I was scared of the dark woods without friends, but who knows what lurked out there.

  2. So Scott - why do you ignore your own advice on seeking them out?

I think anytime you are “able” to see one- clearly out in the open - not surprised
There are two more flanking you with bad intentions

    1. Tom,
I no longer seek them out. I stopped that when I came to the realization of what the Sasquatch are, Nephilim. I pursue normal outdoor activities and wear a back trail camera in case I am approached from behind. I have set out the occasional trail camera while I was out, but took it back in, again in an attempt to catch them hiding and peeking. I do not go into the outdoors with the express purpose of looking for them, gifting them, seeing them, etc. But the one thing I can't stop is the fact they know that I know, and that makes me of interest to them.

  3. Knowing what you have just stated on this page, do you STILL research Bigfoot? Just asking. Peace.

    1. No, not in what people would consider the tradition sense. I wear a backtrail camera and during normal activities, if they show up and following me then I might get something, otherwise I just enjoy my day hiking, camping, fishing etc

  4. Interesting thing about "owl calls". Once in a while something comes around my place that makes something similar to owl calls. It starts like an owl then turns to chirps and weird sounds, it's hard to explain. When this happens the dog goes under the house and will not come out, even to eat. I do not allow my kids out without me or my oldest son. We just finished cutting back the underbrush close to the house so we can see better when things green up.

    1. Yes the ones I've recorded and then turned on me used fake owl calls regularly as well as Sonic style barks.
If you want an example sending let me know

  5. Cane--

I so completely understand the fascination.

As a 7 yo child, in the 70s, I said "when I grow up, I'm moving to Northern California to find Bigfoot".
As it turned out--I ended up in far, far Northern CA,& spent years in the mountains, woods, & wilds calling them, seeking them, "hunting" Sasquatch in all my spare time (plus, travelling throughout the Pacific Northwest--California to BC, not exclusively to "hunt" Sasquatch, but "calling" & searching, everywhere I went).

I ended up having three encounters--each more terrifying than the last.

The final encounter was so terrifying that I could not go to the woods, mountains, or wilds for the next ten years, without stark terror.

They could have killed me & the people (& in one instance the dog we had with us) any of those times.

They did not--but could have, & it was obvious.

Now--especially after having discovered dogmen (& becoming obsessed for awhile--deeply researching & having bizarre, creepy things happen every time I delved deeply into the subject...& stop when I backed off; I NEVER "hunted" dogmen, but, it seems, even researching deeply was/is enough to bring their attention) I know that I will never go "monster-hunting" again.

I pray mightily that I can AVOID monsters for the rest of my life.

I have had Sasquatch encounters, numerous UFO sightings, demonic encounters, seen ghosts, & other high-strangeness things that I don't even know how to classify.

None of it has benefitted me in any way--I have interesting stories & have been forced to dig into some very strange & terrifying subjects to try to understand what has happened to me & why, but--mostly it has deeply traumatized & terrorized me & left me with paralyzing PTSD & anxiety, & much extra healing & recovery work to do.

Believe me when I say I understand the obsession.
It was with me for most of my life.

I am very happy for the good that your obsession has brought you (just as I am grateful that my Sasquatch "hunting" helped pull me out into the Siskiyous & Trinity Alps & all of the amazingly, breath-takingly beautiful, Sacred, Holy mountains, woods, & wilds of far, far Northern California...I may not have gone so early, so deeply & so often--at the beginning, before I realized how much peace, & wonder, joy, & fulfillment they brought my mind, heart, Spirit, & Soul, how they brought me straight into the Presence of God--if my obsession hadn't pulled me out there fast.)

But I urge you to seriously consider quitting while you are ahead.

I feel lucky to have escaped with my life, & not to have had the people with me get hurt or killed.

And, now, with the types of cryptids increasing, & the escalation of both frequency & intensity of encounters people are having with them (& the escalation of the 411 phenomenon--which may or may not be related--I sure don't claim to know)--I think that obsessions like this are increasingly dangerous.

It terrifies me to think of something happening to you (or anybody) & especially your precious children. I feel so grateful that my encounters ended my "monster-hunting" before I became a Mother!

I still read & watch videos (obviously!), & try to understand what & who Sasquatch are. I even--sometimes--still try to figure out the dogman thing.

But I have to be very careful.

And I would never go looking for any of the "monsters" of the world again.

(I think that Sasquatch are a type of human--but they can be monsters, nonetheless)

I would encourage you MOST STRONGLY to do your best to divest yourself of the obsession, & not go looking for them.

I know that may seem impossible--my obsession was once almost all-consuming!--but I beg you to try.

    Please be safe!

Please keep those beautiful children, with whom you are blessed, safe.

    Best wishes.❤

    Take good care.

  6. Yes there is true wisdom in the warning this concerned lady gives as I've naively been reordering these things, pushed my luck and had them turn on me and never before was I aware that such EVIL POWERFUL things like these merciless cryptid was very real and around my area. Drove me out of my home by infrasounding with no mercy and I'm now fearing that I've moved yet not escaped this overwhelming evil.
WORST REGRET OF MY LIFE EVER HAVING ANYTHING TO DO WITH THESE SATANIC THINGS.
You should at least reconsider for you just as i was are naive and have an ill placed faith in these being no risk but instead a positive thing.
If they attack you cannot defend nor protect your children and yourself from infrasound and trust me you do not want to risk encounter evil such as the ones I sought out have shown to be.
BIGGEST REGRET OF MY LIFE AND I DON'T KNOW IF I'LL SURVIVE THE CONTINUOUSLY EVIL ATTACK.
    THINK ABOUT THAT MATE PLEASE

  7. redwoodrebelgirl, you said you stopped researching deeply and yet watch videos and read about this Cryptids. Out of purely idle curiosity, what did that other research entail? Rest assured I agree with you one hundred percent these things should be left alone, do not worry I will not engage in any forbidden activities. I'm just purely curious what you were doing besides reading and watching videos. Field research?
